Mountain Air Cabins has been part of Ruidoso’s story since the 1940s, when it began as a humble logging camp in the pine-covered hills of New Mexico. The rugged cabins that once housed loggers were gradually transformed into cozy mountain retreats, offering travelers a quiet place to unwind and reconnect with nature. For decades, guests returned to Mountain Air Cabins for its timeless charm, warm hospitality, and the serenity of the mountains. Generations of families made memories here, drawn by fresh air, towering pines, and a deep sense of peace.

In 2012, Ryon and Alyx Duncan purchased the property, bringing new energy and a shared love for the area. They thoughtfully updated the cabins while preserving their original character, creating comfortable, authentic spaces that honored the property’s roots. In 2024, a devastating wildfire destroyed the original cabins. Though the loss was profound, it marked a turning point. The Duncans remained committed to rebuilding—determined to carry on the legacy of Mountain Air Cabins.

Today, we operate from a newly remodeled office and manage a collection of vacation properties throughout Ruidoso. With a state-of-the-art commercial laundry facility and a dedicated local team, we continue to deliver the same thoughtful service and mountain charm our guests have come to expect. Mountain Air Cabins is a story of resilience and renewal. While the cabins may look different, our mission remains the same: to provide peaceful, memorable getaways where guests can slow down, breathe deeply, and feel at home in the mountains.
