What is Midtown Ruidoso? 

Midtown is an incredible neighborhood of Ruidoso offering some truly breathtaking sights around every corner. About the Midtown Murals

So, how did the murals throughout Ruidoso Midtown get there in the first place? The murals have been a collaboration between the local artists of the area and the Ruidoso Midtown Association. This nonprofit organization came up with the idea for the murals in 2019 as a way to bring some color and vibrancy to the town. Eight talented local artists offered to craft murals for the city, which wound up becoming one of the fiercest competitions that Ruidoso has ever seen.

The Ruidoso Mural Competition

Each of the eight artists who painted a mural throughout Ruidoso were provided with $1,000, paint, and supplies for their projects. Then, they got to work painting some truly unique pieces that captured the heart of Ruidoso. By the time the murals were completed in spring of 2019, the Ruidoso Midtown Association invited the public to vote for their favorite mural. The 1^st place winner was painted by Logan Fle, James Flores, and JB Heard and was titled “Enchanted Culture.”

Every one of the murals was incredibly well-received by the public, and they’re still popular tourist destinations to this day. While you’re exploring Ruidoso, you can see an incredible portrait of Billy the Kid, an homage to the Native Americans of the area, and depictions of the most gorgeous nature surrounding Ruidoso.
